We stopped in Shinjuku on our way back home from Kamakura. This is "Piss Alley", part of the reconstruction era of post-WWII where squatters set up shacks. It holds sentimental for the Tokyo-ites, so it's still around. The business mainly sell ramen, beer, or yakitori. It's called "Piss Alley" because there are no restrooms around...
